Internet Connection

farheavena — Tue, 07/29/2008 - 12:37

I'm looking for an apartment in Vista, but first and foremost I MUST enquire about the internet connection there because I need a very reliable internet..... My entire work depends on it... So dearest residents:

What internet connections do you use in VIsta ? (Streamyx, Celcom Broadband, Maxis Broadband, etc)

Do you encounter any problems with the connections? (slow, cant connect, no signal, etc)

What is the best to use in Vista for wireless connections? (Maxis, Hot spot, Celcom)

Anything else I should know?

Thank you in advance :)

I used Maxis Broadband

So i can only comment about that.

Well i subscribed to the RM69.00 plan, as for weekdays I used around 10.00pm - 11.59pm, which is usually slow, if not not-workable. I guess it's the peak usage hours, i'm not sure if morning-afternoon is alright, and i'm not sure if higher-value package would get you faster.

Weekends - most of the time okay, sometimes is just screwed-up.

Don't ever subscribe higher speed broadband

irvineyan — Wed, 07/30/2008 - 11:49

Maxis 383kbps and higher speed (512 or HSDPA) are the same. If there is more users around the area the speed definitely slower. So don't waste your $$$ to upgrade the speed. This is same as Celcom Broadband as well.

I am using Maxis and it is

I am using Maxis and it is pretty OK but I wouldn't bet my work on it.

Sorry to say that we don't have Streamyx here. We have Time's Lynx tho. I plan to switch when my Maxis contract is up.

Nasioncom use to serve here but they went kaput.

what??

farheavena — Fri, 08/01/2008 - 13:28

Serious, there is NO streamyx there? OMG... Now I'm worried...

So the next viable and reliable solution is to use which provider...?? It is CRUCIAL that I have broadband, and a good connection too.

I use both Maxis (the desktop

I use both Maxis (the desktop modem thingy) and Celcom (my phone). I find that Celcom provides better reliability.

As with all wireless connection, sometimes they drop.

Only non-wireless connection here is Lynx, I think.

To be honest, if you are a

To be honest, if you are a heavy internet user, I suggest you run... run as fast and as far away as possible from this internet black hole called vista komanwel...

well, i'm just kidding, partially. I know a maxis user in tower c. terrible speed. not good enough to run secondlife. I am a izzi user at c1. I'll be using their modem for some batting practice once I can find a new service provider (if you watch the movie 'office space' before). Jaring wireless can cover a few blocks depending on which block you're in. The last I heard it was pretty good. I don't have personal experience for that because C1 is just outside the range. I was using nasioncom until it was closed down. Now their connection wasn't bad at all. deliver the bandwidth as promised. only their antenna got strike by lightning once too many times.

I just signup for a still imaginary 2Mb line with Time broadband supposedly launched soon. I happen to bump into it at the TM clicker shop at sri petaling. For that package, if it can just deliver one third of the speed is good enough for me. I learn to accept the fact that the iSP in vista will never reach streamyx's capacity. At least while i'm still alive. I'm stuck with the place because I own it. I just have to live with it. If you're renting, you got to seriously reconsider.

good luck.
